Features
Robustness and Durability: Built to withstand severe vibration, shock, and mechanical stress inherent in aviation operations.
Overcharge Tolerance: The Cd-Ni chemistry is highly resistant to damage from prolonged overcharging, a critical safety factor in aviation electrical systems.
Deep Discharge Recovery: Can be fully recovered from a complete discharge (even to 0V) by applying a standard charge cycle, with no permanent damage.
Maintainability: Individual cells can be serviced, tested, and replaced if necessary, extending the overall life of the battery pack.
Proven Direct Replacement: Certified and designed to be a form-fit-function substitute for the original K8 battery, ensuring seamless integration without aircraft modification.

Emergency Backup: Powers avionics, lighting, and communication systems during generator failure.
Ground Support: Used in ground power units (GPUs) for aircraft servicing.
Military & Aviation: Certified for use in harsh environments (e.g., high vibration, temperature swings).
Performance Characteristics
Storage Temperature Range: -50°C to +50°C
High-Rate Discharge: Capable of delivering very high current pulses (e.g., 800A - 1000A) required for turbine engine starting.
Cycle Life: Excellent deep-cycle capability, typically exceeding 1000 cycles under proper maintenance.
Service Life: Long operational life (15+ years) due to the robust nature of Cd-Ni chemistry.
Shelf Life: Indefinite if stored properly in a discharged state; no permanent sulfation occurs.
Charging
Constant Current Charging: A typical charge rate is 8A (0.2C) for 7-8 hours.
Float Charging: For ground support units (GPU), a float voltage of 28.0 ± 0.2V (for a 24V system) is commonly used to maintain the battery without overcharging.
Gassing: Normal gassing (hydrogen and oxygen evolution) occurs during charging. Charge only in well-ventilated areas away from sparks or open flames.
High-Current Limits: Limit continuous discharge to 20C5A (800A) and peaks to 30C5A (1,200A) for ≤3 seconds.
Recharge Interval: Recharge every 3 months if stored for extended periods.
Transportation: Comply with IATA/ICAO regulations for hazardous materials (UN 2795, Alkaline Batteries).
Disposal: Cadmium is toxic. Recycle through authorized facilities only. Do not dispose in landfills .
